Seattle Storm Wins WNBA Championship

ATLANTA (Gaea times.com)- Seattle Storm on Thursday won the championship by defeating Atlanta Dream with a score of 87-84. The also became the first team to win the championship without being defeated throughout the postseason. They won each of their seven playoff contest and Lauren Jackson became the MVP of the WNBA finals which stands for Most Valued Player.

Lauren Jackson had 15 points and nine rebounds and was rightly declared as the MVP of the finals. She had 26 points in each of the storms best two victories in the best of the five game series. Lauren Jackson had missed the playoff in 2008 and 2009 due to injuries. This is the second time that Seattle Storm had won the championship, the last time being in 2004.

The much required victory came after five years of struggle which was full of criticism and at times defeat for the team. Seattle team Point guard Sue Bird admitted the frustration of not being able to win and how bad it felt to have read articles criticizing them. The victory perhaps could not have come at a better time. The coach of the Seattle Storm Brian Agler also proved his reputation an his efforts form a big parts of the team’s success. He is one of the best brains and strategist in the games and his team’s victory says it all. The team will be celebrating their championship victory in Lower Queen Anne tonight. A parade will be held at seven in the evening followed by the celebrations at half past seven. The celebration is open to the public who are required to bring their own food and non alcoholic drinks.
