LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- One hardly got to see some powerful compelling exchanges and knockdown efforts during the much anticipated Sergio Mora and Shane Mosley bout on Saturday night at Staples Center. Although Shane Mosley felt that he had fought enough to extract a win from Sergio Mora, veteran judge Lou Moret shared a different opinion and ended the game in a draw. After Kermit Bayless provided 115-113 in favor of Sergio Mora and David Denkin had 116-112 in favor of Shane Mosley, third judge Lou Moret scored it 114-114 leading it to a draw.
In the first six rounds of the bout it was Shane Mosley who outlanded Sergio Mora. Unwilling to mix it up, Sergio Mora went for some defensive play which led his opponent to lead by 54d-24. However, the game scenario changed with the seventh round when Shane Mosley seemed a little bit tired and Sergio Mora took the opportunity to score some with punches. He went for some inside play with clutches and holds. Both the fighters went for some power packed punches. It was the last three rounds that turned out to be the best in the whole fight. The audience got to see some good inside fighting. At the end of the twelfth round, Sergio Mora was outlanded by Shane Mosley with 59-46. Although many opined that Shane Mosley was the one who deserved a win on Saturday, the judge seemed unconvinced.
There is no denying the fact that there were more missed punches than what were delivered and that both the players seemed to lack the speed that was part of the Saul Alvarez and Carlos Baldomir play. After the draw however, Sergio Mora said that he thought that he played to win the bout.
