Astros add Triple-A team in Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Houston Astros are moving their Triple-A farm club to Oklahoma City, finishing what’s essentially a swap with the Texas Rangers of homes for their top minor-league teams.
The Rangers announced last week that they were ending their relationship with the Oklahoma City RedHawks after 28 years. The Rangers chose Triple-A Round Rock (Texas) as its new affiliate.
That left Houston without a Triple-A club and the RedHawks without a major-league affiliate. They announced their affiliation Monday.
The Astros were the original big-league affiliate of Oklahoma City’s minor-league franchise from 1962 to 1972.
