Indians 1B Ryan Garko held out with sprained wrist

CHICAGO — Cleveland Indians first baseman Ryan Garko is out of the lineup against the Chicago Cubs because of a sprained left wrist.

Garko started two games after injuring himself Wednesday against Milwaukee, but left Saturday’s 6-5, 13-inning loss to the Cubs after the ninth because the pain was too severe. He was available to pinch hit Sunday.

Garko, batting .253 with six home runs and 28 RBIs, hurt himself when he slipped while rounding second after hitting a game-tying, three-run double against the Brewers.

Chris Gimenez started at first base Sunday for Cleveland and batted eighth.
