Nebraska better, Huskers know they’re not back yet

IRVING, Texas — For Nebraska, it sure seems like the good old days again.

The Cornhuskers are favored to win the Big 12 North. They can score a lot of points. And no Big 12 team enters the season with a longer winning streak.

Second-year head coach Bo Pelini says while things are moving in the right direction again, his players “don’t feel like Nebraska’s back.”

Instead, he said Monday at the opening of Big 12 media days that the Huskers are starting to understand what they can become as a team and where the program needs to be.

Nebraska was 9-4 last season, winning six of their last seven games — including the final four.

Before Pelini took over, the Huskers were coming off their second losing record in four seasons.
