COPENHAGEN - Chicago and Tokyo were eliminated Friday in the first and second rounds of International Olympic Committee voting to choose the 2016 Games host city.

Chicago reached the lowest number of votes in the first round, despite the personal lobbying of US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

Tokyo was eliminated in the second round of IOC voting, leaving Rio de Janeiro and Madrid in the final round.

Of the 106 IOC members, 103 were present in Copenhagen. The seven IOC members from the four countries of the bidding cities were not allowed to vote in the first round. IOC boss Jacques Rogge also did not take part but reserved the right to break a potential deadlock.
