BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Al Pierce intercepted Rob Curley in overtime and Lehigh defeated Lafayette 27-21 on Saturday.

Alex Wojdowski caught an 8-yard pass from JB Clark in overtime as the country’s oldest rivalry — 145 games since 1897 — went into extra periods for just the second time.

The Mountain Hawks (4-7, 4-2 Patriot League) came up big on defense with three interceptions, a fumble return for a TD and a fourth-down stop at their 2-yard line in the fourth quarter.

Bryan Andrews had Lehigh’s second interception resulting in an 80-yard TD drive. James Flynn capped the drive on a 2-yard TD catch from Clark for a 7-7 tie with 28 seconds left in the first half.

John Veniero returned a fumble on a Leopards’ punt return to tie the score at 14 with 8:31 left in the third quarter.

Curley finished with 300 yards and two TDs on 21-of-28 passing for Lafayette (8-3, 4-2).
