Villanova beats Delaware 30-12

VILLANOVA, Pa. — Chris Whitney rushed for a touchdown and totaled 206 yards of offense to lead Villanova to a 30-12 win over Delaware on Saturday.

Whitney rushed for 138 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown run, on 15 carries. He also went 9-for-14 passing for 68 yards.

Nick Yako kicked field goals of 32, 45 and 34 yards for the Wildcats (10-1, 7-1 Colonial Athletic Association).

The Wildcats built a 20-3 halftime lead and didn’t allow the Blue Hens (6-5, 4-4) into the end zone until the fourth quarter when Pat Devlin threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Niha White.

Devlin went 42-for-58 with 407 yards passing with three interceptions. Phillip Thaxton caught 11 passes for 121 yards and Mark Duncan had 10 catches for 114 yards.

Jon Striefsky connected on field goals of 39 and 24 yards for the Blue Hens.

Delaware outgained the Wildcats in total yards 452-343.
