Georgia Southern beats Ark.-Fort Smith 86-77 in OT
STATESBORO, Ga. — Antoine Johnson scored 11 of his 18 points in overtime to help Georgia Southern beat Arkansas-Fort Smith 86-77 on Saturday in the Legends Classic.
With the game tied 68-68 at the end of regulation, Johnson scored seven points in an 11-2 Eagles run to start the overtime. The Eagles (2-4) made eight straight free throws in the final 1:27 of overtime to ice the game.
Antonio Hanson and Willie Powers each scored 18 points for the Eagles, and Rory Spencer added 16 points.
The win broke a four-game losing streak for the Eagles.
Chris Williams led four players in double figures with 20 points for the Lions (1-3), a first-year NCAA Division II program that moved up from the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Aaron McHenry added 18 points, Grant Clark had 14 points and Josh Simmons 10 for the Lions.
