New Hampshire beats Cent. Conn. St. 67-55
DURHAM, N.H. — Alvin Abreu scored 25 points and New Hampshire bounced back from setting a dubious record in a loss last week, defeating Central Connecticut State 67-55 on Wednesday night.
Tyrone Conley added 16 points for the Wildcats (3-3), who combined with Pitt to score just 22 points in the first half of their Dec. 4 game. It was the lowest combined total in the first half of a Division I game since the shot clock era began (1985), and New Hampshire scored just seven of those points.
On this night, though, the Wildcats got their first seven less than 3 minutes in when Abreu hit a 3 to pull his team within 9-7. Abreu then scored the next seven Wildcats points, staking them to a 14-11 lead.
New Hampshire relinquished the lead just once more, leading by three at halftime and outscoring the Blue Devils 35-26 in the second.
Shemik Thompson led the Blue Devils (2-5) with 20 points.
