Walker has double-double, Loyola takes care of the ball in 62-56 win over Manhattan

Loyola defeats Manhattan 62-56

NEW YORK — Shane Walker scored 12 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had three blocks to lead Loyola (Md.) past Manhattan 62-56 on Sunday.

The Greyhounds (12-12, 5-9 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) scored 19 points off 14 turnovers, while taking care of the ball.

Loyola turned the ball over eight times, and had 13 assists, including six by Brian Rudolph.

The Greyhounds trailed 41-36 after Manhattan’s Mohamed Koita hit a 3-pointer with 12:25 to play. Loyola then tied it at 45-45 on Jamal Barney’s layup with 6:49 left.

Darryl Crawford’s free throw put the Jaspers (8-16, 3-11) back on top, 46-45, 12 seconds later.

The Greyhounds answered with a 6-1 run, and didn’t trail the rest of the way. Julius Brook’s three-point play capped the spurt with 4:25 remaining.

Crawford finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Rico Pickett added 10 points for Manhattan.
