East Carolina defeats Tulane 71-68

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Brock Young scored 18 points and hit two free throws with 9 seconds left to help Eastern Carolina defeat Tulane 71-68 on Wednesday night.

The Pirates, who led for the first 35 minutes took the lead for good, 63-62, on Jamar Abrams’ dunk with 2:02 to play.

David Booker’s free throws pulled the Green Wave (7-16, 2-8 Conference USA) within 69-68 with 54 seconds to go, and they had a chance to take the lead after a missed 3 by the Pirates.

However, Jordan Callahan turned the ball over with 10 seconds left and Young made his two foul shots to give East Carolina (8-16, 2-8) its first ever sweep over a C-USA opponent. The Pirates also defeated Tulane 61-46 on Jan 24.

Young finished with 18 points and added Abrams 16 for the Pirates, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

The Green Wave were led by Kendall Timmons with 16 points and Aaron Holmes with 15.
