Willman leads Bucknell past American U. 73-59
WASHINGTON — Joe Willman scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half and Bucknell never trailed in a 73-59 victory over American on Thursday night.
Mike Muscala and Bryson Johnson each added 14 points for the Bison (10-15, 5-4 Patriot League). Muscala scored the first 11 points of the contest.
Patrick Behan added 13 points for Bucknell, which grabbed sole possession of fourth place in the conference with its fourth win in five games.
Nick Hendra scored 19 points for American (7-17, 4-5), which lost back-to-back league home games for the first time since January 2008 after winning 20 in a row.
After opening a 16-3 lead and entering halftime up 28-25, the Bison outscored the Eagles 25-11 to start the second half. Willman had eight points during the spurt to stretch the lead to 51-34.
The Eagles were unable to edge closer than 10 points during the remainder of the game.
