DOVER, Del. — Frisco Sandidge scored 16 points to lead Delaware State to a 66-63 win over Florida A&M on Monday night.
Marcus Neal chipped in with 14 points for the Hornets (14-9, 9-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who have won three games in a row and six of their past seven.
A tip-in from Florida A&M’s Yannick Crowder cut the Hornets’ lead to 66-60 with 2:23 remaining, and a 3-pointer from Dale Hughes 8 seconds later got the Rattlers as close as 66-63.
But neither team scored in the final 2 minutes, as Hughes missed two free throws with 57 seconds left and the Rattlers committed a turnover on their final possession.
Hughes scored 24 points to lead Florida A&M (6-19, 3-9), who have lost four of their past five games.
The Rattlers outrebounded Delaware State 34-29, but they suffered from 12 turnovers, while the Hornets committed only eight.
