Hartford gets pro football franchise
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — A minor league football team is coming to Hartford.
The United Football League announced Tuesday that the New York Sentinels will play at Rentschler Field in East Hartford for five home games as the UFL’s second season starts in the fall.
The UFL played its inaugural season with teams in Orlando, New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco.
The Sentinels played one of their three home games last year at Rentschler Field, which is UConn’s stadium.
The team, which will be renamed, posted a 0-6 record as the New York Sentinels during the inaugural UFL season and lost 24-6 to the championship game-bound Florida Tuskers in Hartford on November 12 in front of 5,201 spectators.
