Baylor’s Griner ejected after punching opponent

LUBBOCK, Texas — Baylor’s super freshman Brittney Griner was ejected from a game against Texas Tech after she punched an opposing player in the face.

Texas Tech’s Jordan Barncastle fouled Griner with No. 14 Baylor up 55-39 with 9:01 remaining in the game Wednesday night. As the Tech player was moving away from Griner, the Lady Bears’ standout swung and landed a punch on Barncastle’s face.

The game was stopped for about 10 minutes as officials reviewed tape. A technical foul was called on Griner and she was ejected for a flagrant foul and another technical was called on another Baylor player, Morgan Medlock.

The Texas Tech bench also got a technical for going out onto the court after the punch was thrown.

I dont like the fact that all the media is trying to put the whole thing on Brittney. If u look at the tape, no offence to the Tech player, she had it coming. Brittneys reaction was not delayed like the made it seem. Again refering to the tape if you look seconds after the Tech player made the obvious “technical” foul brittney just wanted for her balance to be restored then she swung…it was not way after the incident like articles are making it seem. The tech player should have been either ejected for initiation the fight or given a technical as well. People dont just swing for the heck of it, with most human beings they dont act until they feel threatned in any way, which is exactly what happened…
