Williams’ 32 points, late scoring surge leads ETSU into A-Sun semis in 72-64 win over Campbell

ETSU beats Campbell 72-64 in A-Sun tournament
MACON, Ga. — Micah Williams scored 32 points and sparked a second-half run to lead East Tennessee State to a 72-64 win over Campbell on Thursday in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament.
ETSU (18-14) advances to play in Friday’s semifinals against Kennesaw State, who upset top-seeded Lipscomb 72-69 on Wednesday. Jacksonville will play the winner of Thursday’s Belmont-Mercer game.
Tommy Hubbard finished with 18 points for fifth-seeded ETSU, which was led by Williams’ 10 points during a 12-2 run in the second half to help the Buccaneers claim a 58-47 lead with 5:01 left.
Jonathan Rodriguez, one of 101 Division I players to ever score 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds, ended his college career with 20 points for Campbell (19-11).
Fourth-seeded Campbell led early through the first 26 minutes, but Williams’ 3-pointer put the Buccaneers ahead for good.
