O’Brien’s 28, Lowe’s 26 lead Boston University past Hartford 87-46 in American East tourney

Boston University routs Hartford 87-46
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Jake O’Brien scored 28 points and Corey Lowe added 26 to pace Boston University to an 87-46 rout of Hartford in the first round of the America East Conference tournament on Saturday.
The fourth-seeded Terriers (18-12) advance to Sunday’s semifinal game against No. 1 Stony Brook, 68-59 winners over Albany. Boston U. was swept by Stony Brook in the season series.
The 41-point final margin was the second-largest ever in an America East tournament game.
The Terriers, tying a conference tournament record with 14 3-pointers, trailed only once — 3-0 — en route to their fifth straight win, and third against Hartford (8-22) this season.
The Terriers were 14-for-26 from 3-point range, with Lowe and O’Brien combining to go 10-for-13.
John Holland added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Terriers, who led by as many as 45.
Joe Zeglinski paced the Hawks with 11 points.
