Konerko and White Sox beat Athletics 2-0

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Paul Konerko broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning with two-out double and Mark Buehrle pitched five innings as the Chicago White Sox beat the Oakland Athletics 2-0 on Tuesday.

Buehrle beat Oakland’s Ben Sheets to earn his first victory and finished spring training with a 2.08 earned run average.

Sheets, who struggled earlier this month and entered the game with a 17.28 ERA, put together a second straight quality start, going 5 1-3 innings and allowing a run on three hits with five strikeouts and five walks.

Buehrle struck out three and allowed four hits.

Carlos Quentin hit a solo home run in the seventh for Chicago.
