Perez blows 3-run lead, Tribe ties Reds 10-10
GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Chris Perez gave up three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Cincinnati Reds rallied for a 10-10 tie against the Cleveland Indians on Saturday.
Perez, the Indians’ closer while Kerry Wood is on the disabled list with a sore back, allowed a two-run homer to Dennis Phipps, walked a batter, then gave up a tying triple to Alex Buchholz.
Cleveland second baseman Luis Valbuena left in the fourth inning after being hit in the right hand by a pitch from Homer Bailey.
Mike Redmond drove in four runs for the Indians.
Bailey gave up six runs and six hits over six innings in his longest outing of the spring. He also singled home a run.
Indians starter Justin Masterson struck out seven over five innings, allowing two runs.
