Baylor beats Arizona 4-2 to reach Fort Worth final
FORT WORTH, Texas — Landis Ware and Logan Vick each drove in a run as Baylor eliminated Arizona 4-2 Sunday to reach the final of the NCAA Fort Worth Regional.
Following a hit batsman, a walk and an error by Wildcats shortstop Alex Mejia, Ware hit his second sacrifice fly of the game before Vick singled.
Baylor (36-23) advanced to meet host TCU later Sunday. The Bears would have to win that game and again Monday to advance to a super regionals.
Arizona (34-24) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a one-out double by Mejia.
Baylor pulled within a run in the third. Max Muncy hit a bloop single, stole second base and advanced to score on two flyouts. The Bears tied the game in the seventh when Raynor Campbell struck out on a wild pitch but was able to reach first base, allowing Vick to score from third.
Willie Kempf (9-2) allowed seven hits in eight innings, and Brooks Pinckard pitched the ninth for his 12th save.
