FRANKFURT - Brazil is overwhelming choice of internet users to win the World Cup, according to a global survey released by the research group Nielsen.

Some 34 percent of those quizzed saw the five-time world champions reclaiming the title in South Africa. Among Brazilians, 86 percent saw their team winning the final on July 11.

Argentina, England, Germany and the US, all tied for second with each earning approval from 9 percent of those surveyed. Only 6 percent believe titleholders Italy will retain their crown.

Spain, the European champions and bookmakers’ favourite, were tipped by 8 percent to win.

Some 27,000 people from 55 nations took part in the internet survey that was conducted in March, Nielsen said Wednesday.
