JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (GaeaTimes.com)- Today the largest sporting event of the year is starting in Johannesburg, South Africa. France is going to battle it out with Uruguay at the FIFA World Cup 2010. Before the opening ceremony could take place, the venue wore a jubilant look. The sky was lit up with fireworks in Johannesburg. The security has been beefed up but that did not prevent the exuberant crowd from expressing their joy. Long queues were seen and people waited to get into the grand parade. A lot of musical acts have also been planned to entertain the viewers from time to time.
The opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2010 will be played between Mexico and the host South Africa. Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa is going to be present at the opening ceremony. However, owing to his health he may not be able to watch the opening game from beginning to the end. A number of popular music artists will perform in the opening ceremony as it has been reported. The leading Bollywood celebrities and actors have flown to the city with their family already and they are quite excited about the event and fun out there.

The celebrations are being made online as well as internet search giant Google has changed its logo to celebrate the FIFA World Cup 2010 opening ceremony today.
