Wiggins scores 19 in Lynx’s 92-78 win over Shock

TULSA, Okla. — Candice Wiggins scored 19 points to lead the Minnesota Lynx in 92-78 win over the Tulsa Shock on Saturday night, completing a sweep of the team’s home-and-home series.

Lindsay Whalen had 17 points and six assists, Seimone Augustus scored 16 points and Rebekkah Brunson added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Lynx (4-9). Minnesota won the teams’ season series 3-2, including a 78-67 win at home on Friday night.

The Lynx shot 51 percent from the field, including 12 for 19 (63 percent) on 3-pointers, and finished with 21 assists and 12 steals. The Shock had 21 turnovers.

Scholanda Robinson scored 14 points, Alexis Hornbuckle had 12 and Natasha Lacy and Kara Braxton added 10 each for Tulsa (3-8), which lost its fifth straight. The Shock are winless since beating the Lynx 92-79 on June 4 in their previous home.

Former world-class sprinter Marion Jones tied a season high with four points in 10-plus minutes for Tulsa after going scoreless in 1 minute Friday night at Minnesota.

Charde Houston started a 10-2 run for the Lynx in the final minute of the second quarter and Brunson capped it with a layup to stretch Minnesota’s lead to 55-42 with about 6½ minutes left in the third.

Shanna Crossley followed with a 3-pointer for the Shock, but the Lynx scored the next seven points to increase the advantage to 17 on Hamchetou Maiga-Ba’s layup with 4:22 to go in the quarter.

Crossley had consecutive baskets and Braxton had a layup to pull Tulsa to 67-57 with 1:15 left in the third, but got no closer. Wiggins made two 3s in an 10-1 run that stretched the Lynx’s lead to 85-66 with 3:41 to go in the fourth.
