PASADENA (GaeaTimes.com)- The opening night of the PAC-10 schedule had UCLA football team against the Stanford Cardinal and as the coach of the former team summed up befittingly, it was an “offensive disaster” on the part of the UCLA football team. The Stanford Cardinals broke their losing streak by going for a 35-0 win over UCLA football team. While Stanford Cardinal came up with some good play, few will disagree to the fact that UCLA Bruins’ performance was marred with hoards of mistakes that favored the opponent.
There is no denying the fact that it was an “offensive disaster” on the part of UCLA Bruins. They committed four turnovers which added 10 points to the whopping score of Stanford Cardinal. It was for the first time that UCLA Bruins was shut out completely after its 2008, 59-0 loss at BYU. Towards the end of the third quarter, UCLA Bruins quarterback Kevin Prince made a blunder during a handoff and the ball then passed easily into the hands of Stanford Cardinals’ Micheal Thomas who then went for a 21-yard run touchdown leading the Stanford Cardinals post a 28-0 lead over its opponent.
While the offensive side of the UCLA football was a flop, the Stanford Cardinals displayed some good defense work. After the loss, UCLA Bruins coach Rick Neuheisel said that the team needs to look deep into its failure and “fix it”. On the part of Stanford Cardinals, an excited Michael Thomas said that the win definitely matters a lot. He mentioned that the team was in no mood to lose such an opportunity and it is the taste of this win that will lead it in future.
