IUPUI fires women’s coach amid allegations
INDIANAPOLIS — IUPUI has fired women’s basketball coach Shann Hart amid accusations of NCAA rules violations.
Athletic director Michael Moore says the decision was made in the best interests of the program.
An IUPUI investigative committee recently submitted a report to the school’s chancellor and a university lawyer regarding possible NCAA violations. The report followed an Indianapolis Star investigation that quoted 12 former players as saying the program violated NCAA rules on practice time and recruiting.
IUPUI says it will not release the report. Hart has denied the allegations.
Hart’s teams went 74-105 in her six years at IUPUI. She will be paid for the remainder of her contract, through the 2012-13 season.
