MINNEAPOLIS — Jim Thome, who had his 589 career homers is still uncertain whether he will pave his way into the Hall of Fame. When such a word like this was out Thome had his eyes shut and his facial expressions were odd enough to show a proportion of anxiety and misery.
I know it happened so long ago, and people think I’ve gotten over it. I haven’t gotten over it. I don’t think I ever will. It just eats at you and eats at you. It was the most heartbreaking moment of my career.
says Thome, the Minnesota Twins designated hitter.
The Twins were the openers at the American League Division Series. They had their game on Wednesday against the New York Yankees. They were wishing for a championship for Thome than they had wished for themselves. Jim Thome played for them for about six months. Thome may be a native of Peoria, but he has become Minnesota’s modern-day Paul Bunyan.
