MINNEAPOLIS (GaeaTimes.com)- In what was one of the most dramatic finishes in recent baseball history, Jim Thome hit a 2 run homer to edge past the Chicago White Sox extending their lead to four games. Being 5-6 down in the 10th inning, it looked like the Minnesota Twins were staring at an obvious defeat. Jim Thome’s heroics came against Matt Thornton, in what must have been an emotional twist for the veteran considering that it came against his former team.

After the game, Jim Thome said that this was one of the better games that he has played in and considering that he has played as many as 2,365 games in his career so far, it surely was a crunch game. The moment was emotional in a lot of ways as evident from the manager of both the sides. Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said that there was a reason why he had brought Jim Thome into the side and this was one of them. On the other hand, Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen might be feeling the sting a bit too hard considering that he was the one who urged the management to let go of Jim Thome after last year.

The game had number of twists before Jim Thome pulled off the miracle. After conceding a 4-0 lead to the Chicago White Sox, the Minnesota Twins fought hard to come back into the game. Alexei Ramirez hit a home run for the Chicago White Sox to tie the game in the 9th inning and also helped his team score another run in the tenth inning to get into the lead. The lead, however, was not to last as Jim Thome stole the show with the walk off hit.
