Brett Lee asks dumped Johnson to trust his abilities

MELBOURNE - Brett Lee has asked dumped pace bowler Mitchell Johnson to maintain the faith over the coming weeks and to trust his effectiveness as an impact bowler.
The national selectors axed Mitchell, who last year was named the world’s best cricketer, after finishing the opening Ashes Test in Brisbane wicketless, the first time in his 39-match Test career.
“Mitchell is going through what’s called a form slump, but I’m a firm believer that you don’t lose class overnight,” The Age quoted Lee, as saying.
“He’s a quality athlete and a great bloke. While he might not be taking the wickets he wants at the moment, he has to stay true to himself. He’ll definitely bounce back, he’s too great an athlete and bowler,” Lee said.
Asked if such criticism affected players, Lee said: “Only if they allow it.” (ANI)
