Stosur, Clijsters sail into round three of Australian Open

MELBOURNE - Fifth seed Samantha Stosur powered into the third round of the Australian Open by beating unseeded Russian Vera Dushevina on Thursday.
Stosur destroyed Dushevina 6-3, 6-2, in 80 minutes at Melbourne Park.
She will now face Wimbledon semi-finalist Petra Kvitova, who beat Anna Chakvetadze 6-3, 6-4, in her second-round match.
Former World No.1 Kim Clijsters also cruised into the third round by beating Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1, 6-3.
The 27-year-old, who defeated Russian Dinara Safina in the first round, is now on track for an Australian Open title and could snatch world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki’s place, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Meanwhile, former World No.1 Jelena Jankovic failed to reach the third round after losing to China’s unseeded Peng Shuai 7-6 (3), 6-3.
The 25-year-old Serbian became the highest-ranked woman to be out of the top 32. (ANI)
