LONDON - Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has signed Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan to solve his striker problem.

Mourinho desperately needs a striker as Argentinian star Gonzalo Higuain has been ruled out for four months with a back injury.

Adebayor will have a medical at the Bernabeu today before signing the deal, which will give him a Champions League lifeline, the Sun reports.

The 26-year-old has started just two games for City this season, but Real Madrid will be looking at a 16 million pound transfer at the end of the season.

“Real Madrid and Manchester City have reached a deal that will see Emmanuel Adebayor play on loan,” Real Madrid said in a statement.

“The player will remain at Real Madrid until the end of the current season, at which point the club hold a unilateral option to purchase the player,” it added. (ANI)
