MELBOURNE - World No.2 Vera Zvonareva moved into the semi-finals of the Australian Open on Wednesday with a win over World No.25 Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.
Zvonareva finished off giant-killer of the tournament Kvitova 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 20 minutes at Melbourne Park, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The 26-year-old, who has lost in the finals of the last two Grand Slams at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, next faces World No.3 Kim Clijsters.
Clijsters overcame Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3 7-6(4) in her quarter-final match.
The other semi-final will be between World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki and World No.9 Li Na. (ANI)
