ADELAIDE - England batsman Kevin Pietersen’s attempt to auction off his Ashes kit to raise money for the Queensland flood victims has hit a hitch, as the online auction winner has disappeared.

According to the Sun, the auction had the highest bid of 31,800 pounds, but the bidder turned out to be an unwitting man based in Afghanistan.

Pietersen’s management will now contact the next-highest bidders, and are confident of receiving close to 30,000 pounds.

As part of the auction offer, the lucky person will receive tickets to an ODI between England and Australia in Perth on February 6, and will be invited to watch the tourists train on February 5.

Pietersen has also offered to pay for airline tickets and hotel accommodation for the winning bidder. (ANI)
