SYDNEY - Australian all-rounder Steve Smith believes that struggling stand-in captain Michael Clarke will come out stronger in the remaining matches of the ODI series against England.

Clarke has made only 70 runs at an average of 17.50 in four ODIs against England, which follows his miserable average of 21 in the Ashes series.
“He is working really hard in the nets and has been a class player for a long time,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Smith, as saying.

“I don’t think he is far off. I think he has quite a good record at the Gabba, so I am sure coming out here in a few days’ time he will get some runs. I think he has handled things pretty well for a long period of time,” he added.

Smith also says that Clarke’s worth in the team should not be measured by pure runs, but also include his captaincy skills. (ANI)
