Indians LF DeRosa late scratch against Cubs
CHICAGO — The Cleveland Indians have scratched left fielder Mark DeRosa from the starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs, his former team.
The move was made after batting practice before Saturday’s game.
DeRosa was shaken up in the third inning of Friday’s game while chasing a foul fly. As he reached for the ball in the Cubs’ bullpen along the left-field line, he hit the brick wall with his left leg and came down on a telephone box, knocking the door open.
DeRosa met with a trainer after taking batting practice and was pulled from the lineup. Chris Gimenez replaced him in left.
DeRosa is batting .281 with 13 homers and 49 RBIs.
He played two seasons with the Cubs, helping them win back-to-back division titles. He was traded to the Indians in December.
