San Diego beats Morehead State 13-7

MOREHEAD, Ky. — San Diego running back Justin Fontenberry threw a 69-yard touchdown pass to Eric Fiege in the fourth quarter to seal the Toreros’ 13-7 win over Morehead State on Saturday.

Trailing 7-3 at halftime, Mike Levin kicked his second field goal of the game, a 39-yarder, to pull San Diego (4-6, 3-5 Pioneer Football League) within one point early in the third. That set up Fontenberry’s game-winning TD pass with just under 10 minutes to go in the game.

Later in the fourth, the Toreros defense took over.

Loka Kanongataa sacked the Eagle’s Zach Lewis on a fourth-and-7, and then Jeff Chavez picked the quarterback off with less than five minutes left to help seal San Diego’s win.

Fontenberry finished with 74 passing yards and 13 rushing yards for the Toreros. Fiege had 90 yards receiving.

Lewis finished with 196 yards, one touchdown and an interception for the Eagles (2-8, 0-7).
