Lexington - It was a historic night that witnessed awesome moves by John Wall and his teammates. DeMarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson scored 18 points apiece and the third-ranked Wildcats Kentucky became the first team in NCAA history to reach the 2,000-win plateau with an 88-44 romp over Drexel on Monday night.

The legendary coach Adolph Rupp was captivated by handful of old-school virtues. It was as entertaining as Kentucky’s 12th straight win was.

The game’s first score came when All-American Patrick Patterson fed the ball inside to DeMarcus Cousins for an easy score. A minute later, Patterson alertly grabbed a ball that was knocked away from Cousins and scored. The shooting was nearly perfect the first half. The Wildcats were 19-for-34 from the field, 5-for-7 from 3-point range and 13-for-13 at the foul line.

By the time the game ended, UK’s starters already had put on black T-shirts that said, “UK2K,” in honor of the 2,000th win. Blue and white confetti showered the Rupp Arena court and streamers flowed over the court while celebrating Kentucky’s historic triumph.
