No. 4 Purdue beats Minnesota 79-60

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Robbie Hummel and E’Twaun Moore both scored 18 points, and No. 4 Purdue beat Minnesota 79-60 on Tuesday night to remain unbeaten.

JaJuan Johnson had 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks, and Chris Kramer added 15 points to help the Boilermakers (14-0, 2-0 Big Ten) tie the school record for best start. The 1993-94 team that featured Glenn Robinson also won its first 14 games.

Paul Carter scored 15 points and Damian Johnson added 12 for Minnesota (11-4, 2-1), which had won seven straight. Center Ralph Sampson III sat out with an ankle injury.

Purdue led by seven points at halftime, then shot 65 percent after the break to pull away. The Boilermakers shot 52 percent overall to make up for committing 17 turnovers.

The Boilermakers held the Gophers to 31 percent shooting. Purdue’s starters outscored Minnesota’s 69-34.
