South Carolina State beats Florida A&M 77-62
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Darnell Porter scored 22 points and South Carolina State beat Florida A&M 77-62 on Monday night.
The Bulldogs have won three in a row and four of their past five games.
Brandon Smalls added 15 points and Jason Flagler added 12 for the Bulldogs (11-8, 5-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
The Bulldogs led 35-31 at halftime, went on a 13-2 run early in the second half and grabbed a 50-37 advantage with 12:16 to play after a free throw by Arsenio Williams. The lead never dipped below nine points the rest of the way, and the Bulldogs took their biggest lead at 63-47 after a free throw by Porter with 5:58 remaining.
South Carolina State held a 38-27 edge in rebounding and limited the Rattlers to only seven offensive boards.
Dale Hughes scored 19 points and Rasheem Jenkins added 13 points for the Rattlers (5-16, 2-6).
