Tennessee Tech defeats Tennessee-Martin 70-61

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Frank Davis scored 19 points as Tennessee Tech defeated Tennessee-Martin 70-61 on Saturday night.

A 3-pointer by Davis, who was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc, started a 12-0 first-half run by the Golden Eagles (13-13, 7-8 Ohio Valley Conference) that gave them a 30-19 lead 5:09 before halftime.

The Skyhawks (4-21, 1-14) never got closer than five points the rest of the way.

The teams combined to shoot 80 free throws, 58 of them in the second half, with Tennessee Tech making 71.8 percent (28-for-39) in the game to Tennessee-Martin’s 61 percent (25-for-41).

Alfred Jones scored 13 points and Elijah Muhammad 11 for the Golden Eagles.

Benzor Simmons scored 14 points and Terrance Coleman 13 to lead the Skyhawks.
