Stony Brook beats Albany 68-66 on last shot

ALBANY, N.Y. — Muhammad El-Amin hit a long jumper with 1.8 seconds left, lifting Stony Brook to a 68-66 win over Albany (N.Y.) on Friday night.

El-Amin, who finished with a game-high 19 points, got the ball from Dallis Joyner near half court out of Stony Brook’s final timeout. He called off his teammates, took a few steps toward his defender and then pulled up for the game-winner just inside the 3-point arc.

Bryan Dougher added 11 points for the Seawolves (20-7, 12-2 America East Conference), who remain atop the conference standings with two games to play.

The Seawolves can clinch the regular-season America East title with a victory over second-place Vermont on Wednesday at home.

El-Amin and Dougher sank three 3-pointers apiece for the Seawolves, who finished 9-for-20 from long range. Albany was just 6-for-17 on 3s.

Will Harris scored 17 for the Great Danes (7-22, 2-12).
