Obama’s women’s bracket in big slump
NEW YORK — The president is in a bracket slump.
President Barack Obama was 4-4 in women’s NCAA tournament games Monday, dropping his bracket to 154,227th place — or better than just 19 percent of ESPN users.
He still has time to rally, though, since he has seven of his final eight teams remaining. He lost one Monday night when No. 2 seed Texas A&M was upset by seventh-seeded Gonzaga 72-71.
The First Fan still has his Final Four intact with Connecticut, Stanford, Tennessee and Nebraska. He also has Connecticut, on a women’s NCAA-record 73-game winning streak, beating Stanford for the national championship.
Obama’s men’s bracket ranks 341,262nd on ESPN.com’s leaderboard, putting him in the top 92.9 percent of users who made picks on the Web site. That ranking is likely to drop next weekend as the tournament continues because of Kansas’ 69-67 loss Saturday. Obama picked Kansas to win it all, with the Jayhawks beating Kentucky.
