PORT ELIZABETH - Ivory Coast captain and leading scorer Didier Drogba was left out of the starting line-up for the World Cup football game against Portugal set for later Tuesday.

Coach Sven Goran Eriksson omitted the iconic striker even though Drogba had received special dispensation from FIFA to wear a protective cast on his broken arm.

Drogba, 32, broke his arm in a friendly match against Japan June 4.
