Beal’s 25 points lead US to 105-70 win over Australia for berth in U17 semifinals

US beats Australia to reach U17 semifinals
HAMBURG, Germany — Brad Beal of St. Louis scored 25 points on 7 for 9 shooting to lead the United States to a 105-70 victory over Australia on Friday night and a berth in the semifinals of FIBA’s U17 World Championships.
The US (6-0) will face Canada (5-1) on Saturday with the winner going to Sunday’s championship game.
The US took control with a 14-0 run that gave it a 22-8 lead with 3:19 left in the first quarter. James McAdoo, of Norfolk, Va., who made all 8 of his shots from the field and had 17 points and nine rebounds, scored five points in the run. Chasson Randle, of Rock Island, Ill., and Adonis Thomas, of Cordova, Tenn., each had a 3-pointer.
Beal had three 3-pointers and another basket as the US went up 52-34 at halftime.
