No trouble reported at James’ home after announcement, police watch giant sign in Cleveland

Police report no incidents at James’ home

CLEVELAND — Police were ready in case LeBron James’ decision led unhappy fans to cause trouble at his Ohio home, but there were no reported problems.

A Bath Township police dispatcher said Friday she was unaware of any incidents outside James’ 35,000 square foot house 20 miles south of Cleveland.

Township Police Chief Michael McNeeley had said there’d be extra officers keeping an eye on the property Thursday night, just in case.

James stirred up tempers Thursday when he said he’d be leaving Cleveland and his home state of Ohio to play for the Miami Heat.

In downtown Cleveland, a police car kept watch Friday over a 10-story billboard of James near Quicken Loans Arena. Fans had thrown rocks at the sign after James made his announcement.
