San Francisco Marathon In The City Today

SAN FRANCISCO (GaeaTimes.com)- It has been a busy weekend for San Francisco. With the 32nd annual San Francisco Marathon scheduled to kick off at 5:30 in the morning today, the residents and officials of the city are busy making preparations to welcome the 24,000 runners expected to take part in the competitions this year. The Marathon route will cover the tracks of The Embarcadero, proceeding on to the Marina district and the Golden Gate Bridge before the runners track back to the Golden Gate Park and the South of Market area, with the race scheduled to come to an end near the AT&T Park.

With the city being packed with so many people who have come to take part and participate in the San Francisco Marathon, government officials have announced that there are possibilities that the traffic condition in the city will be at a standstill especially during the beginning of the racing competitions. However traffic disruptions are to take place only during the early part of the day said the traffic officials, with normalcy being restored by 12:30 in the afternoon. Since prior announcements have been made and the streets which will be the most affected ones have been named, residents and visitors can chalk out their plans accordingly.

The San Francisco Marathon is not only famous for its racing competitions, but also for the accompanying street fairs and music shows that is organized in the city every year to keep the young and old entertained throughout the day. The Full Marathon is scheduled to start at 5:30 Sunday morning with the Half Marathon, the Progressive Marathon and Second Half Marathons following shortly after.
