MONTGOMERY (GaeaTimes.com)- The team of the Alabama Crimson Tide will open the season against San Jose State but minus the Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram. The tailback of the Alabama Crimson Tide has reportedly injured his left knee on Monday during the practice session of the team. The news was confirmed to media sources by Alabama Crimson Tide Coach Nich Saban on Tuesday. Nick Saban held that Mark Ingram had undergone an arthroscopic procedure and that the player will be able to make a full recovery from the injury in a “relatively short time”.

In the statement issued by Nick Saban, the Coach mentioned that due to the present injury, Mark Ingram will not doubt remain out of the field during this week’s game against San Jose State. He added that the team will manage this “on a week to week basis beyond this week”. Although with the kind of backup that Alabama Crimson Tide has, there are likely chances that it would be able to perform well against San Jose State, but according to many analysts the injury might come in the way of Mark Ingram’s personal career. Mark Ingram might have become the second person to have won the Heisman Trophy twice. At present Ohio State running back Archie Griffin is the only one to have achieved that feat.

As for Alabama Crimson Tide, the team has got some new faces in its back up line. In absence of Mark Ingram, the team will have to bestow its trust on Trend Richardson who last season ran 751 yards and scored eight touchdowns. He also went for 109 yards and a 49-yard touchdown against the Texas Longhorns in the national title game.
