KNOXVILLE (GaeaTimes.com)- Bruce Pearl came out clear about his mistakes only to pay a hefty $1.5 million price for it. The Tennessee Volunteers basketball coach on Friday acknowledged in front of the media sources that he had lied during a NCAA interview in the month of June in connection to his violations of recruiting norms and held that he is truly sorry for it. However, the Tennessee Volunteers team management has punished the coach by reducing his pay by $1.5 million in five years and also depriving him from participating in any off-campus recruiting drive for a year beginning from Sep 24. Some reports claim that the pay cut might escalate up to $2 million if Bruce Pearl does not continue with the team till the end of 2015.

The NCAA conducted an investigation into allegations of recruitment violations brought against Bruce Pearl and one of his staff. It was alleged that Bruce Pearl made excessive calls to recruiters. On Friday Bruce Pearl confessed that he had not divulged all the details that he should have in front of the investigators during the interview and that he felt sorry about that. He added that he had informed of his act to athletic director Mike Hamilton in July. A tearful Bruce Pearl said during a news conference that he was truly sorry for the mistakes he has done.

On the part of Tennessee Volunteers team, although it came forward to take some drastic and dramatic steps against Bruce Pearl, athletic coach Mike Hamilton said that he is happy that Bruce Pearl has come up to correct his mistakes. He held that everybody make mistakes and Bruce Pearl has made one in this regard.
