JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (GaeaTimes.com)- The much anticipated Champions League T20 final between Chennai Superkings and the Warrior proved to be a rather tame affair as the Chennai Superkings showed that they are not just worthy of being the IPL champs but also World T20 Champs in the domestic circuit. Winning the match with 8 wickets in hand and one over to spare, MS Dhoni’s men dominated the game from the very beginning.

The Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first. With a bowling attack that boated off the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan, L Balaji and R Ashwin, all that the Chennai Superkings needed was one breakthrough in the form of the dismissal of Davy Jacobs. The opener was adjudged LBW off the bowling of R Ashwin and many experts felt that it was the biggest turning point in the Champions League final. After the openers departed, Muttiah Muralitharan and L Balaji strengthened their hold on the game and brought the run rate down significantly. The Warriors innings folded in a docile manner with 128 on the board. Going by the trends in the Champions League so far, the score looked gettable for the Chennai Superkings.

Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay opened the batting for Chennai Superkings and soon the Warriors’ bowlers found themselves struggling to get the first breakthrough. Playing solidly off the front foot as well as the back, both the batsmen looked in control of the chase. In spite of the dismissal of Murali Vijay and Suresh Raina (2), the Chennai Superkings never looked under pressure in the final. Their captain MS Dhoni came 2nd down and with the help of Michael Hussey (51*), the IPL champions also became the Champions League Champions.
