Rutgers Player Paralyzed Due To Neck Injury

NEW MEADOWLANDS, (GaeaTimes.com)- It was a misfortune for a Rutgers Player on Sunday. The team witnessed a severe injury of Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand. The doctors said that a sudden injury, that affected the lower part of his neck, in the spine, paralyzed that part completely, and the player might have extend his stay at the hospital for further treatment. It is expected that the treatment may continue for the next few months.

Greg Schiano, the coach of his team and and other Rutgers Players were present in the hospital all through out Sunday night, to pray for Eric LeGrand’s quick recovery. The player had the accident in the fourth quarter of the game when only five minutes were left for the match to get over. It all happened when all of a sudden, Eric LeGrand had a fierce collision with Army’s Malcolm Brown and tumbled on the ground. He could not move for the next few minutes and was left numb on the ground for quite sometime, until he was carted off. Eric LeGrand was making a tackle on a kickoff against the Army, in the latter part of the match, when he got paralyzed from his neck, after suffering an injury to his C-3 and C-4 vertabrae. Although the Rutgers won over the army with a final score of 23-20, it left the player absolutely injured.

Eric LeGrand was immediately rushed to the Hackensack University Medical Center after the injury. The doctor declared that the spinal injury below his neck has culminated to paralyzed spine, for which, he had to undergo a long surgery, in order to stabilize his spine.The Rutgers player is now in the Intensive Care Unit.
